If you ever forget your Microsoft 365 password or need to update it for security reasons, you can easily reset it using the Microsoft Authenticator app or the self-service password reset portal. This guide walks you through the process step by step.
Option 1: Resetting Your Password Using the Microsoft Authenticator App
If you’ve set up Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) with the Microsoft Authenticator app, follow these steps: 1. Go to the Sign-in Page • Visit https://login.microsoftonline.com. • Enter your User ID (email address) and select Next. 2. Click “Forgot My Password” • On the Enter Password screen, click Forgot my password. 3. Verify Your Identity • Choose Microsoft Authenticator app as the verification method. • Approve the sign-in request on your mobile device. 4. Set a New Password • Enter and confirm your new password. • Click Finish to complete the reset.
Option 2: Resetting Your Password Using the Self-Service Password Reset Portal
If you don’t have access to the Authenticator app, you can reset your password through Microsoft’s security portal: 1. Visit the Password Reset Page • Go to https://passwordreset.microsoftonline.com. 2. Enter Your Information • Input your User ID (email address) and type the displayed security code. • Click Next. 3.
